Bioinformatics

Overview

The Bioinformatics division was established in 2002 and the M.Tech. Bioinformatics programme was supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. This division is the one of the 12 centers in the country chosen by the CSIR-GoI under its Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) initiative. The M.Tech Bioinformatics programme was supported by DST-FIST during 2015-2020. The division has grown into a vibrant hub for academic and research activities of highly qualified and well-trained faculty specialized in frontier areas of bioinformatics. The division has introduced a new M.Tech programme in Big Data Biology to prepare graduates for the world of digital biology. The establishment of a DBT - supported Bioinformatics Centre and a Network Centre is in offing.
