Antibacterial peptides are the effector molecules of innate immunity and acts as the first line of host defense against
pathogenic infections . Generally they contain 15-45 amino acid residues and the net charge is positive.Antibacterial peptides
have been identified in various species ranging from bacteria, frogs to mammals, including humans.Database of antibacterial
peptides (DABP) has been established based on an extensive literature search. Peptide informations can be searched using
keywords such as peptide name, sequence , structure and activity. DABP is a useful tool for studying the structure -function
relationship of antibacterial peptides. The structural and sequence information of these peptides can be retrieved from PDB
and Swiss-Prot.
Antibacterial peptides were collected from the literature by PubMed search. A web link for Swiss-prot, Interpro, PIR are
created in DABP for each peptide entry to provide more useful information's regarding peptides. In addition, each entry also
contains peptide name, gene name, source, sequence, length, hydrophobic ,molecular mass, net charge ,structure (such as a-
helix or beta strand), biological activity, crucial residues for and taxonomic classification to provide information about evolutionary relationships of the peptides.
