Overview

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in 1994 in the then Shanmugha College of Engineering, affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli. It was merged with the School of Chemical & Biotechnology in 2003.

To spearhead excellence in chemical engineering education, research and practice

 

Mission

To foster graduates with a sound knowledge in fundamental chemical engineering principles, achieved through collective means of periodically enriched curriculum, academic rigour, innovative teaching-learning methods and industrial exposure

To create and nurture strong linkage with industrial community through collaborations & consultations, and provide solutions applying chemical engineering principles

To ideate, nurture and perform research in niche inter-disciplinary and conventional chemical engineering domains with the zeal to push the borders of the knowledge frontiers through independent & collaborative efforts.

To produce innovative and socially responsible chemical engineers who will develop sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies for the betterment of society and the nation.
